Origin of the
Holy Scriptures

"For I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled"                Matthew 5:18

This is a very special verse because it was spoken from Jesus Christ concerning his word. Even though the Lord of Glory promised that his word would not disappear, most Christian scholars & leaders today do not hold to the inerrancy and infallibility of scripture. This is because of the ungodly influence they are being taught in their colleges and seminaries. With that being the case its no wonder that nearly all Christians have no ideal of the history of the Bible.

This tract was designed to give the Christian some understanding about how we got the Bible and how it survived down from the ages.

God's word says "...that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established"
                    Matthew
18:16

In translating the Bible scholars used three Categories in which they translated the Bible; These three were:

Manuscripts - There are over five thousand hand written copies of the New Testament alone that give us a complete understanding of the 27 Books of the New testament. The Greek New Testament known as Textus Receptus represents the majority of those manuscripts. The Old Testament was taken from the tenth century Hebrew manuscript known as the Masoretic Text. When it was compared to the Dead Sea scrolls that are dated 200 BC they show such accuracy it was astonishing.

Quotes from the Church Fathers - The Ante Nicene fathers are a collection of the of the letters written by Christians of the first 300 years of the Church. For example: Polycarp was the Bishop of Smyrna, who was a disciple of the Apostle John . Many times in his letters he would refer to the originals that he used while with John.

There are enough quotes of scripture just from the church fathers to translate the Bible.

Ancient Bibles - Bibles such as Peshitto (Syrian) which originated as early as 130 AD, were used by the next generation of Christians after the Apostles.

These are the many wondrous proofs of God's holy word. It is only natural that the enemy will do nothing to stop the influence of the Bible. The best way is to either destroy it or compromise it by watering it down.

"Thy word is very pure..."                          Psalms 119:140
